I'm right in the midst of practicing my challenge. Today's task is to derive concrete action steps from my plan. 📅 I've set the goal of formulating three specific tasks for each sub-area. 📝

A brief recap: on the 25th day of my challenge, I wrote a Vision Document. 🌟 In it, I precisely outlined how my life will look in a year. 🗺️

I outlined the following core areas: 🎯

  • Career 💼
  • Financially 💰
  • Relationships ❤️
  • Friends 🤝
  • Health 🏋️
  • Education 📚
  • Family 👨‍👩‍👦‍👦

Today, I'm taking each area and formulating three specific tasks for each of them. 🚀

Important note: this isn't about strategy at this stage; it's about figuring out what needs to be done to get closer to the respective goal. It's not yet about being strategic in the sense of reaching the goal as efficiently as possible. It's about identifying the initial steps needed to approach the goal. 🛤️

But don't worry, the topic of "strategy" will come later. 🤓

How I Derive Tasks from Goals 📈

I've written my life plan in a Google Document 📄. At the front, there's a cover page titled "One Year Ahead", followed by a table of contents with the core areas listed above. For each core area, I've written a few sentences in the present tense about how they will be. 📝

Under each core area, I now have a subheading titled "Tasks", where I formulate 3 specific tasks using bullet points that I need to do next to get closer to the respective goal. ✅

Important: don't confuse tasks with goals here. For example, if your goal in the education area is to read for 45 minutes daily, the task isn't "Read for 45 minutes daily." Reading for 45 minutes daily is a goal or even a habit you want to acquire. 📖

Tasks are concrete and specific next steps to be taken. In the example of reading, a task could be: 📖

  • Find the next book to read 📚

or:

  • Purchase a comfortable reading chair 🪑

Goals need to be concrete and achievable. You can break them down into smaller steps that can be accomplished in a few actions. 🎯

My annual plan is not a closed document. Part of this process is to regularly revisit and review it. I'll keep adding to and adjusting it. I'll replace completed tasks with new ones. The planning will be refined step by step. 🔄

I'll document everything here on this blog, so stay tuned! 📢👀
